Dr. Sharon Bruce

Dr. Sharon Bruce grew up in North Delta, British Columbia, and attended North Delta Senior Secondary before pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science at the University of British Columbia. From an early age, she knew she wanted to become a veterinarian and began volunteering at a local veterinary clinic while still in high school.

After graduating from UBC with honours in 1997, Dr. Bruce moved to Saskatoon, where she worked in a swine research facility before entering veterinary school in 1998. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002 and chose to remain in Saskatchewan for the next nine years. During this time, she practiced primarily as a solo practitioner, taking great pride in growing and developing a successful clinic while building lasting relationships within the community. She continues to cherish her time on the prairies and visits whenever possible.

In 2011, Dr. Bruce returned to British Columbia and settled in Abbotsford, where she has dedicated more than 15 years to full-time general small animal practice, proudly serving the Fraser Valley community. In 2024, she and Dr. Sarah Kerbrat embarked on an exciting new chapter by opening an independently owned and operated veterinary clinic in Abbotsford.

Dr. Bruce is passionate about all aspects of general practice and lifelong learning, with particular professional interests in dermatology and dentistry. Over the years, she has frequently considered specializing in dermatology. She has also completed locum work throughout the region, and clients may recognize her from clinics in Langley, Maple Ridge, Chilliwack, and Mission.

She prides herself on practicing veterinary medicine in a compassionate, family-oriented manner, building meaningful relationships with both clients and patients. A devoted animal lover, Dr. Bruce has owned two Bernese Mountain Dogs and currently shares her home with a gentle old-soul Goldendoodle, a quirky and fun-loving Standard Poodle, and an aloof cat.

Dr. Bruce has travelled extensively — including South Africa, Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico — both for personal enrichment and professional development. While she remains one of the rare British Columbians who truly loved prairie skies and her years in Saskatoon, she is grateful to call the Fraser Valley home.

Outside of veterinary medicine, she enjoys yoga, family adventures, and camping trips to the Shuswap. Much of her free time is spent with her husband while they support her son’s involvement in community sports and activities, including the Abbotsford Whalers, Abbotsford Falcons, Abbotsford Angels, and the 861 Silverfox Air Cadet Squadron.

Looking ahead, Dr. Bruce hopes to one day contribute her skills internationally through Vets Without Borders.

Dr. Sarah Kerbrat

Dr. Sarah Kerbrat was born and raised in Smithers, BC, where an early interest in animals and science naturally led her toward a career in veterinary medicine. After high school, she moved to Victoria to complete her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Victoria. Her passion for veterinary medicine then took her across the world to New Zealand, where she earned her veterinary degree from Massey University in 2018.

While completing her veterinary degree, Dr. Kerbrat worked on a dairy farm, where early mornings and hands-on responsibilities reinforced her appreciation for the dedication required in animal care. Although she now practices exclusively in companion animal medicine, the experience instilled a strong work ethic and practical approach to patient care.

After completing her veterinary degree, Dr. Kerbrat returned to British Columbia, putting down roots in Abbotsford and spending the first seven years of her career serving clients and patients within the Fraser Valley. During this time, she was fortunate to have Dr. Sharon Bruce as a mentor. Their mentorship evolved into a partnership, and together they founded Mill Lake Veterinary Clinic, a practice dedicated to providing compassionate, community-focused, high-quality veterinary care for pets and their families.

Dr. Kerbrat enjoys the variety each day in veterinary medicine brings and has developed interests in internal medicine, dentistry, and soft tissue surgery. She is passionate about building strong relationships with clients and believes that excellent medicine starts with clear communication, trust, and compassion.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Kerbrat loves staying active, whether playing sports or going on adventures with her Great Dane, Remmington. She has a passion for netball and had the honor of representing Canada internationally. When she’s not at work, you’ll often find her on a golf course during the warmer months. She has been a member at Ledgeview Golf Club since 2019 and always enjoys playing new courses.
