Diagnostics for Every Stage of Your Cat or Dog’s Life

Diagnostics aren’t only for sick pets. Routine blood work is a valuable part of senior pet care; additionally, baseline testing of younger pets can give us a benchmark to compare against down the road.

Pet Diagnostics and Imaging FAQs

How do I know if my pet needs blood work?

We recommend routine blood work as part of senior pet wellness exams and before any procedure requiring anesthesia. For younger pets, baseline testing can give us a reference point to compare against as they age. If your pet is unwell and we can’t identify the cause from a physical exam alone, blood work is usually the next step.

How long does it take to get diagnostic results?

Many results come back quickly, depending on the test. Some specialized testing is sent to an external laboratory, which can take a little longer. We’ll always let you know what to expect and follow up with you as soon as your pet’s results are in.

What does an X-ray show for dogs and cats?

Digital X-ray gives us information regarding your pet’s bones, chest, and abdomen. It’s useful for identifying fractures, detecting masses, assessing organ size, and investigating digestive issues.

What if my pet needs imaging or diagnostics that aren’t offered at the clinic?

We work with visiting veterinarians who come directly to our clinic for services such as ultrasound and endoscopy, so your pet can get advanced diagnostics in a familiar environment. For anything else, we work closely with specialist hospitals in the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland, and our office will coordinate the referral for you.
