Dr Sharon Bruce

Dr. Sharon Bruce, DVM

Dr. Sharon Bruce grew up in North Delta, British Columbia, and attended North Delta Senior Secondary before pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science at the University of British Columbia. From an early age, she knew she wanted to become a veterinarian and began volunteering at a local veterinary clinic while still in high school.

After graduating from UBC with honours in 1997, Dr. Bruce moved to Saskatoon, where she worked in a swine research facility before entering veterinary school in 1998. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002 and chose to remain in Saskatchewan for the next nine years.
During this time, she practiced primarily as a solo practitioner, taking great pride in growing and developing a successful clinic while building lasting relationships within the community. She continues to cherish her time on the prairies and visits whenever possible.

In 2011, Dr. Bruce returned to British Columbia and settled in Abbotsford, where she has dedicated more than 15 years to full-time general small animal practice, proudly serving the Fraser Valley community. In 2024, she and Dr. Sarah Kerbrat embarked on an exciting new chapter by opening an independently owned and operated veterinary clinic in Abbotsford.

Dr. Bruce is passionate about all aspects of general practice and lifelong learning, with particular professional interests in dermatology and dentistry. Over the years, she has frequently considered specializing in dermatology. She has also completed locum work throughout the region, and clients may recognize her from clinics in Langley, Maple Ridge, Chilliwack, and Mission.
She prides herself on practicing veterinary medicine in a compassionate, family-oriented manner, building meaningful relationships with both clients and patients.
A devoted animal lover, Dr. Bruce has owned two Bernese Mountain Dogs and currently shares her home with a gentle old-soul Goldendoodle, a quirky and fun-loving Standard Poodle, and an aloof cat.

Dr. Bruce has travelled extensively — including South Africa, Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico — both for personal enrichment and professional development. While she remains one of the rare British Columbians who truly loved prairie skies and her years in Saskatoon, she is grateful to call the Fraser Valley home.

Outside of veterinary medicine, she enjoys yoga, family adventures, and camping trips to the Shuswap. Much of her free time is spent with her husband while they support her son’s involvement in community sports and activities, including the Abbotsford Whalers, Abbotsford Falcons, Abbotsford Angels, and the 861 Silverfox Air Cadet Squadron.
Looking ahead, Dr. Bruce hopes to one day contribute her skills internationally through Vets Without Borders.

Dr. Sarah Kerbrat

Dr. Sarah Kerbrat, DVM

Dr. Sarah Kerbrat was born and raised in Smithers, BC, where an early interest in animals and science naturally led her toward a career in veterinary medicine. After high school, she moved to Victoria to complete her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Victoria. Her passion for veterinary medicine then took her across the world to New Zealand, where she earned her veterinary degree from Massey University in 2018.

While completing her veterinary degree, Dr. Kerbrat worked on a dairy farm, where early mornings and hands-on responsibilities reinforced her appreciation for the dedication required in animal care. Although she now practices exclusively in companion animal medicine, the experience instilled a strong work ethic and practical approach to patient care.

After completing her veterinary degree, Dr. Kerbrat returned to British Columbia, putting down roots in Abbotsford and spending the first seven years of her career serving clients and patients within the Fraser Valley. During this time, she was fortunate to have Dr. Sharon Bruce as a mentor. Their mentorship evolved into a partnership, and together they founded Mill Lake Veterinary Clinic, a practice dedicated to providing compassionate, community-focused, high-quality veterinary care for pets and their families.

Dr. Kerbrat enjoys the variety each day in veterinary medicine brings and has developed interests in internal medicine, dentistry, and soft tissue surgery. She is passionate about building strong relationships with clients and believes that excellent medicine starts with clear communication, trust, and compassion.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Kerbrat loves staying active, whether playing sports or going on adventures with her Great Dane, Remmington. She has a passion for netball and had the honor of representing Canada internationally. When she’s not at work, you’ll often find her on a golf course during the warmer months. She has been a member at Ledgeview Golf Club since 2019 and always enjoys playing new courses.

Kyla Tingstad

Kyla Tingstad, Client Service Representative & Veterinary Assistant

Kyla grew up in Salmon arm BC before moving down to the Fraser Valley. At 26 years old, she has already spent eight wonderful years working in veterinary medicine as both a veterinary assistant and receptionist. She loves being part of the team that helps pets and their people feel cared for from the moment they walk through the door. Whether she’s assisting with patient care or greeting clients at the front desk, her goal is always to make visits as comfortable and positive as possible for both animals and their owners.

She is passionate about supporting both patients and their owners by helping create a welcoming, organized, and compassionate clinic environment.

Animals have always been a big part of Kyla’s life. Outside of the clinic, you’ll usually find her riding horses, paddle boarding, or spending time outdoors exploring with her dog Milo by her side. At home, She enjoys relaxing with Milo and her cat, Phineas, who both keep life entertaining and remind her why she loves working with animals so much.

Megan Potter

Megan Potter, Registered Veterinary Technologist

Megan started in the veterinary field in 2021 as a kennel attendant while still in high school. She went on to work as a veterinary assistant while completing her Veterinary Technologist program, and became a Registered Veterinary Technologist in British Columbia in 2025. She loves hands-on patient care and finds it rewarding to help animals stay healthy and comfortable while supporting the people who love them. At Mill Lake, Megan is building her skills in anesthesia and dental procedures. Outside of work, she’s usually reading (her to-be-read pile keeps growing) or spending time with her horses, Tucker and Sassy. At home she has a little white dog named Toby and a tuxedo cat named Nala.

Jo Nunes

Jo Nunes, Client Service Reepresentative

Jo has loved animals for as long as she can remember. While other kids watched cartoons, she watched every animal documentary she could find, and she still does. She brings 13 years of client service experience to Mill Lake, and she’s looking forward to learning from our doctors firsthand. Jo has a habit of finding lost pets wherever she goes, and so far she has reunited every single one with its family. A former competitive bodybuilder, she still trains as a hobby and recently joined a competitive shooting team. At home, she’s usually relaxing with her cats, Mr. Burgers and Mr. Mayo.

Brisa Yazbek-Serpas

Brisa Yazbek-Serpas, Registered Veterinary Technologist

Brisa grew up surrounded by animals, and every childhood visit to the vet strengthened her passion for veterinary medicine. She has worked in the field since 2018 and became a Registered Veterinary Technologist in 2022. Her goal is simple: to be someone pet owners can trust, and to care for every patient as if they were her own. When she’s not at the clinic, you might find Brisa practising aerial silks or eating sushi, which she says she could have every day. She shares her home with two chihuahuas: Nala, a sassy seven-year-old, and Zuko (also known as Zuki Zucchini), a goofy one-year-old.

Catherine Lowe

Catherine Lowe, Veterinary Assistant

Catherine has been a veterinary assistant for a year and a half, and her love for animals is what brought her to the field. Her friends call her Cat, partly as a nickname and partly because of what she happily calls her crazy cat lady tendencies. She’s working toward becoming a Registered Veterinary Technologist. Outside of work, Catherine loves anything crafty. At home, she has three sphynx cats: Oliver, Theodore, and Montgomery.
